Mana is derived from the Essences combined energy. The flow, sometimes called a stream, consists of mana strands woven together constantly moving on a flexible path. The flow can be tapped into and manipulated. Each strand can be seperated, such as specifically pulling fire magic from the overall flow. Using the flow in this raw state is usually done by the Entities, who break it down to a more user friendly spell based system.
Rarely, some mortals are born attuned to a specialized part of the flow. These individuals are able to learn to tap into the rest of the flow fairly easilly.
