Rylithian, Citidel on the Water is beautiful enough that it is very easy to forget that it is a city on top of a fortress. It was impenetrable prior to the Betrayal, and even with the assistance of a god directing them, the enemy chose to seal it instead of trying to fight within. It was designed by Emperor Averon L'Sheriss and utilizes magically and physically reenforced natural features, as well as superior materials and craftsmanship in its creation. It was added to and somewhat modified by those that came after him, but it remains mostly his work.

Locations within the Citidel

The Gate Room

Located deep within the Citidel, this large, domed room can function as a staging ground for up to a thousand soldiers and a hundred drakes. Larger amounts stage in the Rooms That Are Not, though they are keyed to mark magic and can only be opened by those with the Mark. It is the only place mark magic is keyed to teleport to, such teleportation is known as 'gating'. The Gate Room has direct access (through mark magic) to all of the Watch Tower Outposts within the Empire.

The Throne Room

The Emperor holds most court functions in the throne room. It is sealed and sound-proofed. There are three thrones on the dias, the middle being the Emperor's. The Imperial Bondmate sits to his right, the Empress to his left. The room itself is located at the base of the waterfall and has a stained glass ceiling. There are water features on both sides of the room.

The Hall of the Ancestors

Meant to represent the history of the Empire and serve as a reminder of what it stands for, The Hall of the Ancestor's walls are lined with a statue of each Emperor. The hall leads to the waiting areas outside the throne room.
