Smoke (Reeve)

The second personality of Emperor Reeve L'Sheriss, Smoke truely came about after the death of Lirielle in 3877, though he existed as a persona before that. He was originally created by Reeve around 3720 to sucessfully get information from the poor areas that he could not get as a noble. Once he saw their quality of life, he did what he could to improve it. He had to focus on subtley as the drow are not a trusting people. He gathered up the street children, provided them shelter, protection, and occassionally food, clerical attention and clothing in exchange for any information they gathered as they went about their day. They considered him a hero and a father figure, some of them practically worshipped him.

He eventually took in Malak as one of his "Urchins". Malak was obsessed with his hero and did anything he could to please him or spend more time in his presence. Upon Malak's death at the hands of Ryizzin (testing a magic item on people that would never be missed), Reeve felt a strong need to have the boy resurrected even though the boy would then know who Smoke really was. What he felt was their bond, and there was no denying it at that point. It wasn't long before Malak was Reeve's lover and 'Smoke's sidekick', going everywhere with him.

Sadly, during this period, it was starting to become clear that Reeve and Smoke were both the same man, and not so much. The stressors in Reeve's life were increasing at an alarming pace, and in an attempt to remove stress, Matrons Vera and Shri'kalkiira started to take away Reeve's duties. This was actually the worst thing they could have done.

The stress brought out the worst of the Mark behavior, but there was no outlet. So he made one, targetting the nobility.
