Veristal

Veristal is located west of Azaynt. The northern area is very marshy but the eastern is forested. It has access to a great deal of coast line, both fresh and salt water. Unsurprisingly, the prime commodity is fish. There is a large population and many cities have strong outlaying communities. Traditionally been ruled by a King, Emperor Lindaeyl chose to strike upon learning that the young King had died suddenly without an heir, knowing from experience that infighting is easy to take advantage of.

The campaign started on 09/01/0237 and took the eastern forests fairly easilly. However, upon leaving the forest, the drakes had nowhere dry to land. They became prone to fungal infections on their feet which slowed the Empire's progress. The winters were found to be particularly bad with heavy snowfall coming in from the ocean.

The campaign came to a halt upon the death of Emperor Lindaeyl at Vena's Glade in the Eldarrian Deepwood on 05/07/0240 and did not resume until that fall under Emperor Zarionel. Winter came early and erased what little progress they had made that year.

Emperor Zarionel proved to be incredibly stubborn. The next spring he scrapped the plans left over from his father and chose to carry on anyway with a plan he had come up with in only a few hours. His advisors saw this as reckless, but soon changed their minds. He solved each problem as it came up, rather it be foot fungus, ice, or black dragons living in the swamp. The Mark of the Emperor proved to be a great asset and the once seemingly worthless campaign began to show signs of improvement.

The people of Veristal had reorganized themselves in the time it took the Empire to learn their land and proved to be formidable opponents.

The campaign lasted until 06/26/0250 when Veristal finally surrendered to the Empire, having exhausted their resources.
